Six people escaped injury in a pipe bomb attack on a flat in Armagh last night.

Six people escaped injury in a pipe bomb attack on a flat in Armagh last night.

A device was pushed through a letter box at the property in Gough Avenue in Armagh city shortly after 10 p.m.

The device exploded and the door and carpet were damaged. The people in the flat were unharmed. A motive for the bombing has not yet been established.

Elsewhere, a classroom was destroyed in a fire at a school on the outskirts of south Belfast. Police removed several items for examination following the fire at Rathmore Grammar School in Dunmurry.

In a separate incident, offices in the Stranmillis area in the south of the city were badly damaged when a window was broken and the premises set alight.
