SOME of the contributors to the special millennium yearbook which is being sold to raise funds for the Irish Hospice Foundation were present in Cork this week to do signings. Members of the public came clutching their copies of The Whoseday Book, which has sold almost 30,000 copies in Ireland to date.
Among the luminaries in Cork are writers Deirdre Purcell and Alice Taylor. They're there to meet those who want to notch up as many signatures as they can in their copy for the year 2000.
The beautifully produced, cloth-bound book features contributions from 366 of Ireland's leading artists, writers, poets, musicians and personalities - one on each page. At £30 a copy, the book is already number two on the Irish hardback bestseller list.
Others who gathered to sign copies are author Mary Leland and sculptor Vivienne Roche. Also present are sailor John Crotty, developer Michael O'Flynn and wife Joan and, from Kinsale, Courtenay and Val Good and jazz singer Susan Crosbie.
