Shots were fired at a man sitting in a car as children made their way to a Limerick city school yesterday. A man on a motorbike driven by another man fired the shots from a sawn-off shotgun shortly after 9 a.m.
The man was sitting in a car at traffic lights on the Corbally Road, near Scoil Ide. The car was hit with gunshot pellets but the driver drove to his home in St Mary's Park. The attackers drove off in the opposite direction towards Co Clare. A man in his 30s was treated for gunshot wounds in St John's hospital and was later released.
Garda∅ believe the attack may be linked to a gangland feud.
