Leeds - Survivors and relatives of those who died in the Selby train crash wept yesterday as the recording of a 999 call was played to a jury. The recording featured Gary Hart desperately seeking police help after his Land Rover plunged on to a railway line.

The tape, including graphic sounds of the express train approaching with its horn sounding and then hitting the vehicle, was played to a packed Leeds Crown Court. A police operator, Ms Sarah Pratt, who took the call, wept as she listened to the tape.
