An armed man has escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing a security van in Finglas, north Dublin, this afternoon.

Gardaí said the man approached the van on church Street, brandishing a gun. He grabbed a bag of banknotes and escaped on foot.

Earlier, three armed escaped with over €400,000 following a raid on a security van in Santry, Dublin.

The van was delivering money to an ATM machine located in the Omnipark Shopping Centre at 9.15 a.m. when the incident occurred.

Three men, one armed with a shotgun and another with a handgun, held up the van before making their escape in a dark coloured Volvo car.

The car was recovered in Coolock a few hours later.

No shots were fired and no one was injured. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
