The search for Gerard Evans, one of the so-called “disappeared”, resumed in north Louth yesterday on the same day that new legislation came into effect to assist the families of those declared missing.
Work began yesterday at Carrickrobbin, Co Louth, in the search for the remains of Mr Evans (24) who went missing in 1979 and is believed to have been murdered by the IRA in south Armagh.
Plant machinery was taken to the area yesterday after work at the site identified a number of possible areas where Mr Evans could be buried.
