SDLP woman's home attacked in Co Armagh

The home of a member of the SDLP has been attacked just days after she received death threats, police said today.

Mrs Dolores Kelly said she was alone in her house in Craigavon, Co Armagh last night when she heard two large bangs at the door.

"I really didn't know what the noise was but was afraid to open my front door for fear of what I would find," she said.

"I immediately called the police and a relative who lives close by."

Neighbours later said they thought the noise they heard was possibly two gun shots or rockets.

Mrs Kelly received death threats earlier this week from dissent republicans for her work on the District Policing Partnership.

She said she had no doubt the incident was "another form of callous intimidation" and added it was a very frightening experience.

"I want these republicans to know that nothing will deter my work towards a new beginning in policing," she insisted.

Police confirmed they carried out a search of the house at around 7.30 p.m. but nothing was found.
