Celebrating its 10th year, Triskel Arts Centre's Intermedia festival once again brings an impressive range of interdisciplinary art to Cork City. Running until the end of the month, you can expect at some point to stumble across unconventional artwork in quite unexpected places.

Hunting for Intermedia artists though is still a bit of a task and it is often necessary to touch base with participating gallery spaces. Do so now and you will experience the brilliant Baschet Brothers sound installation. I say experience, because most of the sound sculptures crammed into the gallery space are there to be played like instruments.

The array of sculptures on show function or operate in different ways. Some are self-propelled using wind or water and are quite passive in a tranquil, Japanese garden sort-of-way.

Others require direct manipulation where you can pluck, hit, bang or rub them to create different sounds.

The sheer wonder in exploring these sculptures means that appreciating them as art objects is of secondary concern. While the use of such decorative motifs as birds, flowers and figures add a playful counterpoint, the most unified pieces are those which revel in the mechanics of indeterminate form.

Bring the kids for a jam session - you will probably be unable to distinguish them from the adults.

Runs until May 31st
