Live coverage of the Irish games at the European Championships will be a feature of this year’s Live at the Marquee in Cork. Acts scheduled to perform from June 7th to 6th include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jessie J, Imelda May, Olly Murs, Christy Moore and comedian Dara O Briain.

Promoter Peter Aiken says the Irish games will be shown on a big screen.

“This is the first time Ireland has been involved in a championships since we have done the Marquee,” he said. “We are going to have clowns at it, we are going to have bands at it, we are going to have food at it. It is much more than showing the match. We want to create an atmosphere.”

Mr Aiken said ticket sales had been brisk, with a particularly strong showing for X Factor runner-up Olly Murs, whose two dates have sold out.
