Children at Mount Anville primary school, Mount Merrion, Dublin, were evacuated from the premises and sent home yesterday after construction work in the grounds caused a gas leak.
A spokesman for Bord Gais said the company was called to the school by the headmistress shortly before 9 a.m. to deal with the leak.
The leak was fixed quickly and the gas supply restored. A spokeswoman for the school refused to confirm or deny the leak or to comment other than to say the school would return to normal today.
