The Athy Model School in Co Kildare was extensively damaged by a fire which started early yesterday morning.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at the 150-year-old building on the Dublin road.
Gardaí said a house next to the school was evacuated and smoke from the fire also affected visibility on the main Dublin road during rush hour.
