London - Eleven staff members have been suspended from a special school following allegations of sexual abuse which emerged during an inquiry into methods of restraint and punishment, Durham County Council said yesterday.

A joint police and social services inquiry was initiated at Windlestone Hall School in Rushyford, Co Durham, on September 28th following allegations of physical and emotional abuse.

Four former pupils who were contacted made complaints against staff, some of which included allegations of sexual abuse, the council said.
