A scheme which will enable people who inject illegal drugs to obtain clean needles from pharmacies has been launched on a pilot basis in Northern Ireland. Seven pharmacies will take part initially in the Department of Health scheme. There are 304 registered drug users in Northern Ireland, 106 of whom inject drugs.
