A man alleged to have fired shots in Derry on Bloody Sunday has waived his right to anonymity ahead of evidence to the Saville Inquiry.

The Derry man (49) will deny he was a member of the Provisional IRA on the day.

He is also expected to tell the inquiry that he was at home during the civil rights march before the shootings.

It was previously claimed the man fired shots from the Glenfanna Park area of the city in January 1972 when 13 unarmed civilians were shot dead by the British army. A fourteenth died of his injuries later.
