Tel Aviv - Israel's state airline El Al confirmed yesterday that a cargo aircraft that crashed in Amsterdam in 1992 carried chemicals which could reportedly be used to make the nerve gas Sarin.

Mr Nahman Kleiman, a spokesman for El Al, said the aircraft was carrying a shipment of dimethyl methyl phosphonate (DMPP) when it crashed into an apartment block shortly after takeoff from Amsterdam airport.
