Saturday's Wimbledon women's final betwen Ms Serena Williams and young Russian upstart Ms Maria Sharapova expected to provide one of the most compelling championship matches in years. The men's final will be played on Sunday.

And despite last night's fairytale win by the Greek soccer team, host nation Portugal remains hot favourite with the bookies to scoop the Euro 2004 trophy this weekend.

Paddy Power bookmakers are offering odds of 4 to 6 for Portugal to win the championship within the first 90 minutes and 3 to 10 odds to win after extra time and penalty shoot outs.

The quest to win the trophy, then, is expected to turn into a full-scale Greek tragedy for the vistors with odds of 9 to 2 to beat Portugal.

Kick off for the final is 7.45 p.m. on Sunday and is available on both RTE Network 2 and ITV.

Meanwhile, GAA fans should expect traffic delays at tomorrow's qualifying football match between Dublin and Leitrim at Carrick-on-Shannon where kick-off is at 3.30 p.m.

AA Roadwatch is also advising bus travellers of on-going delays at Parnell Place Bus station in Cork with delays to the 223 and 224 service.

The weekend weather is expected to be bright and sunny overall however, Met Eireann have issued gale warnings on Irish coastal waters from Carnsore Point to Slyne Head to Malin Head for this evening and early tonight.
