Ryanair has begun checks on its fleet of Boeing 737 airliners after US aviation authorities ordered emergency inspections.
The Federal Aviation Administration sent out an order to airlines at the weekend that requires wing slat inspections on all 737-600 to 900ER models within the next three weeks.
The order comes after an explosion and fire that destroyed a China Airlines plane in Japan last week.
A spokesman for Ryanair, one of the largest users of the aircraft, said it had started the inspections and would conduct them without disrupting operations.

"Nothing has been discovered thus far arising from the inspections. Ryanair expects to complete the inspections well before the required 24-day deadline," the spokesman said.
