Ryanair carried a record 60 million passengers in the 12 months to the end of June, according to new figures released today.

The no-frills airline said that passenger numbers in June increased by 13 per cent compared to the same month a year earlier.

Last month Ryanair carried 5.84 million passengers as against 5.17 million in June 2008.

The airline said it expects that by the end of its full-year it will have carried 67 million passengers.

Load factor, which represents the number of seats filled on each aircraft, rose 1 per cent over the year from 84 per cent, Ryanair said.
