GARDAI were last night treating as "suspicious" the death of a young Russian student whose body was found in a house in Blackrock, Co Dublin.

A post mortem examination was carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, and the results were expected late last night.

The body of the 17 year old was discovered at 10.30 p.m. on Saturday at a house on Merrion Avenue, where he lived with other Russian students. An ambulance which was called to the house alerted the Garda.

A number of marks were found on the body and gardai said last night they were keeping "an open mind" on the cause of death.

Detectives were yesterday interviewing a number of students and an interpreter was provided to assist with their enquiries.

Attempts were being made through the Russian embassy to contact the young man's family.

Neighbours on Mount Merrion Avenue said they knew nothing of the student or of the events that led to his death.

A garda was on duty outside the house, which was sealed off with yellow tape at the garden gate.
