Foreign Ministry spokesman Mr Alexander Yakovenko

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mr Alexander Yakovenko told reporters talks between US arms expert Mr Paul Wolfowitz and Russian officials had been substantive but left more questions than answers.

He said: "The US has been unable to give us arguments to convince us that they see clearly how to solve the problems of international security without damaging disarmament agreements which have stood for 30 years."

"But I want to underline that discussions will continue."
