A forgery alert was issued in Northern Ireland yesterday, following attempts to pass £50 sterling notes in shops in Strabane, Co Tyrone and Drumahoe and Lisnagelvin both in Co Derry.
The RUC said a group of men in their 20s with Belfast accents had tried to use the forged notes, which seemed to be slightly stiffer than genuine notes.
