A man was being treated in hospital last night after RUC officers opened fire on a car in Co Antrim.
A police spokesman said that officers chased the car, which had been reportedly hijacked at around 5.20 p.m. in Portstewart, Co Derry, by a man with a handgun. Some 20 minutes later, at Cloughmills junction between Ballymena and Ballymoney, police fired shots to stop the car.
A 24 year old man was arrested and taken to hospital. His condition was described as not serious.
