Police in Craigavon said yesterday they were treating the death of a woman in a fire as a murder inquiry. Two men were taken into custody by the RUC for questioning yesterday. The victim was named as Ms Donna Rose Murray (35), who lived in a terraced house in the Ardowen Estate in central Craigavon. Her son, Christopher (16), was rescued by firemen from his upstairs bedroom. He was not seriously injured.

Firemen who tackled the blaze said they had difficulty getting into the house and had to smash the front door open with a sledgehammer. When they gained entry Ms Murray was already dead, lying on a sofa.
