DISABLED people in wheelchairs mixed with international diplomats and representatives of the Romanian presidency yesterday as Romania held its biggest St Patrick's Day celebration.

Mr Petra Roman, a former Romanian prime minister, now leader and president of the Romanian Senate, gave a keynote speech congratulating the non profit organising groups, the Young Journalists Foundation, Use Euro Med and Ireland's Press for Progress.

The St Patrick's Day events also featured the presentation of the first national Civic Journalism and Corporate Citizen Awards recognising business and media contributions to strengthening charities and developing democracy.
