New Zealand produced a sparkling display of high-speed handling to destroy Australia 50-21 in front of 82,000 stunned fans in the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, to take control of the Tri-nations championship in the process.

Winger Joe Rokocoko, who scored two tries in last week's 52-16 Pretoria thrashing of South Africa, went one better with a hat-trick as the on-song All Blacks posted their record score against the world champions.

Australia struck first with a Matt Burke try but two for Rokocoko and one for Doug Howlett, all beautifully worked, gave the visitors a deserved 23-11 halftime lead.

The All Blacks continued with their terrific running in the second half, scoring further slick tries through centre Tana Umaga, replacement flyhalf Daniel Carter and Rokocoko, with former rugby league duo Wendell Sailor and Mat Rogers claiming late consolations for the shellshocked Wallabies.
