Rodney King, whose attack by police led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, has pleaded guilty to drug-related charges.
He has been ordered to spend a year at a live-in treatment centre.
King, 36, admitted three counts of being under the influence of PCP and one count of indecent exposure.
He was arrested earlier this month for allegedly driving while under the influence of a psychedelic drug.
He also faced two counts of being under the influence of PCP after arrests in August and September.
The riots broke out after four Los Angeles police officers were acquitted in state court of beating King.
Two officers were later convicted of violating his civil rights.
King won a $3.8 million settlement from the city of Los Angeles.
He faces a hearing on November 20th for allegedly violating probation in a domestic abuse case.
