THE time for rock veteran Jerry Lee Lewis to lodge $100,000 in the Irish courts, in an action against him by a German concert promotion company, was extended by the High Court yesterday. The case was adjourned until June 23rd.

Neue Constant in Film Productions GmbH is suing Mr Lewis for damages for allegedly failing to turn up at a Munich concert in January 1993. Mr Lewis (61) is being sued here because he was living in Dublin at the time.

He denies the allegations and says that if the agents organised the concert, they had no authority to do so.

Yesterday Mr Justice Kelly decided that Mr Lewis must lodge $100,000 to the credit of the suit not later than June 18th. He ordered that Mr Lewis must make a payment on account, in respect of costs of £7,500, by next Friday. Mr Lewis and a US lawyer acting for him are to make a joint affidavit of discovery by then.

The judge ordered that the company could recover judgment against Mr Lewis for $81,930 and interest and said it was also entitled to recover judgment for damages to be assessed for unliquidated damages.

He put a stay on those orders on condition that the $100,000 is lodged and the payment on account is made.
