The legendary blonde tresses are getting a bit grey, the come-hither eyes are a little crow-footed, the svelte figure is filling out a bit, but the girl is still real. Blondie are back after a 16-year absence and, when you close your eyes and listen to their new album, No Exit, it almost sounds like they've never been away. When the original line-up of Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, Jimmy Destri and Clem Burke played the Olympia last autumn, the fans went wild - even those who are now young enough to have Debbie Harry as their mom. The comeback was complete when the single, Maria, went to Number One in the UK charts, a feat almost as spectacular as Cher's chart-topping return with Believe.

Maria is a late addition to the long list of classic Blondie hits, which includes Denis, Picture This, Sunday Girl, Heart Of Glass, Hanging On The Telephone, Atomic, Call Me, Rapture and The Tide Is High, all of which will no doubt get an airing next Wednesday the Point Depot, Dublin.
