Road accident statistics show an increase in deaths and injuries on Irish roads.
Last month 34 people were skilled and 920 injured in road accidents, compared with 24 deaths and 884 injuries for last year. This brings to 159 the number killed in the first five months of this year, with 4,153 injured. For the same period last year 139 were killed and 3,877 were injured.
Similarly, over the June bank holiday four people were killed and 144 injured, compared with two killed and 118 injured last year.
