WITH the opening on Thursday night of the very cool sounding Isobar, it's clear the vogue for hip looking cafe bars has expanded south. Dublin seems to have more than its fair share of them and even at that, The Front Lounge, The Globe Thomas Read and Cafe en Seine are always packed. Well known Cork restaurateurs, brothers Eddie and David Nicholson, decided to convert the Woodforde Bourne Vaults a building that has been in their family for decades into a very stylish and large cafe bar with multicoloured velvet couches and designery steel stools and tables.
The name of the new hang out will be familiar to John Reynolds, owner of Dublin's still cool Chocolate Bar it was on his list when he [was considering names for his own place.
The Isobar's opening night party [was extremely loud, fun and crowded with most of Eddie and John's friends turning up for the celebrations including Elaine Doody and Hugo Merry, the recently married rugby playing Terry Kingston and his wife Clodagh.
