Liverpool have withdrawn three of their foreign stars from internationals this week as they gather themselves for one final push to clinch Champions League qualification.

Jerzy Dudek, Dietmar Hamann and John Arne Riise have all been pulled out of Wednesday friendlies to aid their recovery from injury.

Riise will not be involved in Norway's game in Dublin against the Republic of Ireland, Dudek will miss Poland's game in Belgium and Hamann is out of Germany's clash at home to Serbia and Montenegro.

But Liverpool still have Milan Baros, Vladimir Smicer, Sami Hyypia, El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao away with their countries, and boss Gerard Houllier will be praying they all return unscathed for Saturday's final home game of the season against Manchester City.

Riise was the most recent withdrawal, having suffered a hamstring injury in Liverpool's 6-0 win at West Brom on Saturday.

Assistant boss Phil Thompson said: "He had treatment on Sunday and will continue to do so, it will be a late decision on whether he makes the City game."

Dudek has been suffering with a groin injury since the Mersey derby earlier in the month and has been unable to take goal-kicks. He is having ongoing treatment and Liverpool do not want him risked in an international friendly.

Hamann picked up an ankle knock at The Hawthorns and has been spared a trip home to face the Serbians.

Liverpool, after seven wins in their last eight league games, have two matches left to secure Champions League qualification.
