Prof Wesley Cocker, who celebrated his 90th birthday last Sunday, in his laboratory in the department of chemistry, Trinity College, Dublin. He was appointed to the chair of chemistry in Trinity in 1946, and retired in 1978. Since then he has continued to work at the bench in the department and to publish the results of his work. TCD's new chemistry teaching laboratory has been named after him to honour his contribution.
