Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale today confirmed a verbal offer has been received for Olivier Dacourt from Lazio but said no deal has yet been done.

Following a meeting between Ridsdale and Lazio owner Sergio Cragnotti in Rome on Tuesday evening, the Italian giants are understood to have bid £16 million sterling for the French international.

Ridsdale said: "We have received a verbal offer for Olivier from Lazio and we are now waiting for that to be followed up in writing.

"If that offer is of a magnitude that I feel is appropriate then I will put it to the board, speak to the manager and then speak with Olivier and his agent".
