French carmaker Renault says it is recalling 230,000 Laguna sedan cars worldwide due to an electrical problem.
A spokesman for the firm said the company had detected an electrical problem with the system that optimises the Laguna braking system. He said this did not mean the cars' brakes themselves were at fault.
"We will be writing to motorists in early October to invite them to take their cars to get them fixed," a Renault spokesman said.
He declined to give financial details but said Europe's fourth-largest carmaker had negotiated sharing the cost with the suppliers of the part at fault.
