An application is to be made on behalf of former Assistant City and County Manager George Redmond to halt his scheduled trial for alleged corruption next month.
Mr Redmond (79) is due to go on trial in Dublin Circuit Criminal on December 5 th.
Judge Michael White was told by defence counsel today that an application will be made on that date for a permanent stay on the trial on the grounds of the accused's ill-health.
Judge White directed that an affidavit dealing with the application is to be lodged on November 28th.
Mr Redmond is charged with alleged corruption relating to land at Buzzardstown, Co Dublin.
He was originally scheduled to go on trial on December 1st, 2004 on this matter but that date was vacated because Mr Redmond was scheduled to go into hospital for surgery last December.
Brendan Grehan SC the court on a later date that his client was still undergoing medical care and further time would be needed to ascertain when he would be fit to stand trial.
A previous corruption conviction against Mr Redmond was quashed by the Court of Criminal Appeal on the grounds that new information had come to light and needed further investigation.
