Berlin - Already under pressure because of his Foreign Minister's street-fighting youth, the German Chancellor, Mr Gerhard Schroder, was embroiled in a new drama last night with claims about the past of one of the newest appointments to his cabinet. The tabloid Bild am Sonntag reported that Ms Ulla Schmidt, the incoming Health Minister, had worked in her student days as a part-time waitress in a red-light bar, and had later run into serious financial problems trying to help out a colleague.
