Recycled mobile phones are to fund nursing scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds at Dublin City University (DCU).

One place in the third-level access programme will be funded for every 600 mobile phones collected at DCU for the children’s charity, the Jack and Jill Foundation.

The organisation yesterday launched the mobile phone appeal at DCU. Each place is worth an estimated €2,000 and will cover one year of the scholarship.
