QE2 cruise ship for Irish visit

The QE2, the world's best known cruise ship, will pay its first visit to Ireland on July 14th

The QE2, the world's best known cruise ship, will pay its first visit to Ireland on July 14th. Dun Laoghaire will be its first port of call on a cruise from its home port of Southampton to the Arctic Ocean. The QE2 will have about 1,400 passengers on board and they will have a day in Dublin.

Mr Peadar Ward, of the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company, said the QE2 was too large to berth in the port, though it would be much closer to land than the JFK battleship last year. Passengers will be brought to and from the ship by tender.
