Music teachers from Kylemore College in Ballyfermot, waving violins, trumpets and flutes, demonstrated yesterday outside the Department of Education in Dublin to protest at the failure to give them full-time jobs.
Thirty-four music teachers work at VEC college, but only one has a full-time job. Under the Programme for Competitiveness and Work, they were due to be offered 11 full-time posts, but the City of Dublin VEC has offered only four or five, a spokeswoman for the protesters said.
