Gender gap: Young women believe strongly they have to work harder than men to get ahead in the workplace, although their male contemporaries disagree strongly.

Some 65 per cent of females aged 15 to 24 agree that they have to work harder to get on. Some 30 per cent disagree and 6 per cent gave no opinion. In contrast, 55 per cent of young males disagree with the statement that women have to work harder. Some 30 per cent agree and 16 per cent gave no opinion. Overall 47 per cent agree with the proposition that women have to work harder to get ahead.
