Sinn Féin has announced details of its forthcoming ardfheis, at which the "ongoing crisis in the peace process" would be urgently addressed, party chairman Mr Mitchel McLauglin said this morning.
The party would also consider its options - understood to mean coalition partnerships - for entering government should it achieve sufficient seats in the next general election, he said
The ardfheis, which is to be held in the RDS in Dublin this weekend, is expected to attract 2,000 delegates, including guest speakers from the ANC, PLO and Basque separatist groups.
They will discuss "a wide range of social and economic issues including health, housing and education" and the status of asylum seekers and refugees, Mr McLaughlin said.
"[The programme] reflects the vibrancy of the party in local communities and the increase in our representation in elected chambers across the country," he said.
Sinn Féin also plans to present policy documents on healthcare, anti-racism strategy, agriculture and arts and leisure at the ardfheis.
