Pro- and anti- Chavez factions clash in Venezuela

Several people were injured today as supporters and opponents of Venezuelan President Chavez clashed and hurling stones and bottles at each other, according to reports from an AFP journalist.

The injured included two Chavez supporters who were attacked by demonstrators and severely beaten up.

Police intervened on several occasions firing tear gas at the crowd.

The incident started when anti-government demonstrators staged a protest outside the political police compound in Caracas.
