A CATHOLIC priest appeared in court in Belfast yesterday on a sex charge involving another man.
Father Gerard Anthony Massey (48), who recently resigned from the Dominican Order, was charged with committing an act of gross indecency in a public toilet in the city last September.
The case was adjourned after Father Massey's solicitor, Mr Denis Maloney, said he understood the case was being totally reviewed by the prosecution.
Father Massey, whose address was given as Fortwilliam Park, Belfast, was not called on to speak during his brief appearance at the Magistrates Court.
On two previous occasions the court was told that he was having medical treatment and he was remanded in his absence.
His address then was given as Bleach Green, Ligoniel, in north Belfast. He is understood to have been living near Cork in the meantime.
Mr Gary O'Loan (22), from Whitehall Gardens, Belfast who was named in the charge against Father Massey, also faced a charge of gross indecency.
Both defendants were remanded on bail until February 20th.
