President Michael D Higgins is to pay tribute to the huge community and volunteer effort that went into the search for the missing crew of the Tit Bonhommewhen he visits Union Hall in west Cork, writes Barry Roche.
The President is to visit on Sunday, April 22nd, to thank the local community and volunteers as well as the statutory agencies that mounted the search operation which recovered the bodies of five crewmen from the trawler. The vessel hit Adam Island after a three-day fishing trip on January 15th.
