Power has been restored to many of the homes that lost electricity supplies in Northern Ireland as a result of last night’s bad weather.

The wintry conditions spread south of the border making driving difficult in parts of counties Cavan and Donegal overnight and this morning.

Warmer temperatures and sunshine has cleared most of the snow but with temperatures due to fall below freezing again tonight, Met Eireann are predicting more snow for the north and west tonight. A gale warning has also been issued.

Engineers from Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) worked through the night to repair fallen power lines as gale force winds and heavy blizzards battered the North.
