A postmistress was tied up in a raid on a post office in Co Longford this morning.

A postmistress was tied up in a raid on a post office in Co Longford this morning.

The Gardaí at Edgeworthstown, Co Longford are investigating a robbery at the local post office at 9 a.m.

Two men made off on foot with what is described as a substantial sum of money. No one was injured in the incident.

One of the raiders is described as being in his late 20s and six feet tall. He was wearing a two tone blue jacket, peaked cap, white runners and a dark track-suit bottom.

The other raider was of similar age and was wearing a yellow sleeveless jacket over a dark green and check top, white runners and a light blue hat.
