Police in the North have opened a murder investigation after the death of a 14-week-old baby boy.

Police in the North have opened a murder investigation after the death of a 14-week-old baby boy.

The baby's 24-year-old father has been arrested by detectives investigating the death.

The baby was admitted to the Antrim Area Hospital earlier this week with a number of injuries, said a police spokeswoman.

He was named today as Cameron Leslie from Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

Because of the severity of his condition he was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he died yesterday.

The flat where he lived has been sealed off by police for a forensic examination.

A post-mortem will be carried out on the child's body.
