Two men were released by police in Northern Ireland after being questioned about the killing of a close associate of the late loyalist Johnny Adair.

Detectives had questioned the men, aged 29 and 24, about the killing of Alan McCullough, whose body was found in a shallow grave in Mallusk on the outskirts of Belfast.

They were released without charge last night.

Mr McCullough had just returned to Northern Ireland after fleeing Belfast earlier this year during the feud between supporters of Adair and members of the Ulster Defence Association.
