British detectives hunting a double killer on the Isle of Man today arrested a man.

British detectives hunting a double killer on the Isle of Man today arrested a man.

Samantha Barton (16) was found strangled at the care home where she lived near Douglas, Isle of Man, last Friday evening. She was born in Dublin to Irish parents.

Her friend, George Green (16) from Douglas, was found strangled just a quarter of a mile away in a thicket.

Insp Gary Roberts said: "At about 8 a.m. today, officers from the inquiry team arrested a local man on suspicion of the murders of Samantha Barton and George Green. He was taken to police headquarters in Douglas where he is currently being detained".

Samantha was living at the Leece Lodge care home when she was killed.

After her body was discovered by a police officer at the care home last Friday, a search of the area was carried out. George's body was found the next day.

Detectives are still keen to speak to a man seen on the former Douglas-to-Peel railway line, near to where George's body was found.
