London - The BBC was today facing a possible £50,000 bill for a police investigation into claims made in its documentary series MacIntyre Undercover that staff at a care home abused mentally-handicapped patients.
The corporation was branded "arrogant" by Kent Police in an unprecedented attack on the programme, which detectives labelled "misleading" and "distressing".
Reporter Donal MacIntyre went undercover at the home, posing as a care worker, and used a hidden camera to film the way patients were treated.
